Customer Profile Class

Can anyone tell me if there is an API to update the profile class in the customer standard records?  We are beginning to use Oracle Credit Management module and seems that profile class is critical for this module to function efficiently.  Currently, 99% of our customers have the profile class of DEFAULT.
