Miscellaneous Receipt Interface

How to create a miscellaneous receipt interface script which can read the data file name. e.g. REV20110828-00. REV stands for revenue, 2011 for year, 08 for month and 28 for date. 00 after "- "stand for version of the file.

can a script be written to read the file name. Based on file version can the previous file be reversed if the file name is same before the "-". e.g: the first file name is REV20110828-00, the next file name is REV20110828-01. So if during the day, revenue is being corrected and data file versio has been changed to -01, the program should reverse the data of the previous file with version -00.
