What happens when patching a Solaris 10 running Solaris 8 containers?

Hello,
I've gotten a few very outdated Solaris 10 boxes which run (probably very outdated as well) Solaris 8 containers.
In order to patch them with smpatch should I observe additional measures?

In other works, how's the interaction of Solaris 8 containers on a Solaris 10 being updated?
Solaris 8 containers should be updated apart and after updating the GZ?
