Reuse Purchase order number

Hi all,

We are looking to reuse the same purchsae order number within same operating unit. Because our legacy system dont have enough numbers.

Currently Purchase order numbers gerenerated at Operating unit level. Is there any way i can use same number again within the operating unit

Currently purchase order number generated and controlled at purchasing option for each operating unit. Can we change this to inventory organization instead of operating unit. So that we can maintain purchase order numbering at inventory organization level
