Change an assets accumulated depreciation account

Is there any way to change the accumulated depreciaiton account for an asset without changing the assets category?  Accumulated depreciation has been setup to a location (unqualified segment) and for GL purposes would like to disbale this location.  However, since the asset uses this location in the accumulated depreciation account we cannot disable the location or our depreciation entry fails.  Can transfer the asset to a different expense account and physical location but this does not update the location on the accumulated depreciation account.  The system is setup to derive the location valule from the asset clearning account when it
