ora-00257: Archiver error - how to remove logs - ASM

Oracle 10g - 10.2.0.4 OS: Linux 5.5
ASM
Two Nodes.
Backup: RMAN

usually a netback job that  runs to backup archive logs to tape and this job also removes these logs.

In a non-asm environment, I could move these logs and remove logs but I don't know how to remove logs from ASM.   since this is a QA environment, I don't mind removing these archivelogs and later run a full backup.

I tried to log into RMAN = RMAN> connect target but it hangs there. any and all help is appreciated.
