All pre-requisite checks fail to run successfully during 11gR2 install on Solaris 10

Please could someone help me here ?

I am attempting to install Oracle database 11gR2 onto Solaris 10 but all of the Prerequisite checks fail to execute.
Here is an example from the install log. This failure to execute occurs on all checks.

I have trawled through lots of info on OTN discussions but can find no resolution.

I have performed a chmod -R 777 on the database directory in case of permissions issues, but this had no noticeable effect.
