Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to R12

Hi there,

We have planned to upgrade our application to R12 and I have a few doubts here.

I upgraded the database database to 10.2.0.5.

I need to install R12 software to create the file system . 
Should I install the software in another location other than 11.5.10.2?
Should I select another appl top location for R12. Another APPL_TOP for R12, how it will upgrade existing objects from 11i.
Will it bring all the products to latest level?

Appreciate immediate response.
