Parameter required in gateway.cfg file to prevent Gateway service on Siebel 8.1 consuming high memor

This affects all Siebel 8.1.x installations:

The Siebel gateway service in version 8.1 will consume a significant amount of memory.
Over time, this can lead to a crash/core of the gateway when reaching the operating systems maximum process limit.

Please see Note 1269177.1 for details.

Even though the Bug 12-1U5V32T is fixed in some Quick Fixes and Fix Packs, the following parameter must be added to the DBSecAdpt section of the ~gtwysrvr/bin/gateway.cfg file for the fix to take effect:

[DBSecAdpt]
GlobalConnections = TRUE

Only when this parameter has been added and the Siebel Gateway server restarted, will the fix be enabled and working.

Howdy, Stranger!
