Compressed Disk Backups and Compressed Tape Backups

I'm working with both Oracle10g (10.2) and Oracle11g (11.2).

To keep at least 7 days recovery files on disk, I wish to use (binary) compressed backupsets in the Fast Recovery Area.

The Fast Recovery Area is subsequently backed up to tape using HP Data Protector using Oracle Integration, so RMAN is used to directly back up the Fast Recovery Area to tape via the sbt channel.

I've read stuff about avoiding using RMAN compress in combination with hardware compression and that it should be avoided (compression + compression = nocompression etc) and that scenario where backing up the database directly to tape is pretty well documented.

Howdy, Stranger!
