Oracle 11g Password Management

I am reading the OCP 11g upgrade exam guide. The chapter mentions that 11g offers a new password case-sensitivity feature. But it also says that in order to take advantage of this feature, you will have to manually reset all user passwords upon upgrading to oracle database 11g. What is the advantage of having the case sensitive password? If I don't manually reset the password, users can still login but just don't use the case sensitve password feature, right?
