OTL: Creating Timecard Layout in R12

Trying to create a time card layout following the Oracle white paper "Configuring The Oracle Time and Labor Timecard User Interface".

 

I can modify an eam layout I copied but I can't hide several columns. Commenting the section does not work and setting the component to HIDDEN_FIELD only hides the field.

 

In a payroll layout, I can add a work order column but it fails to display on create. I get Message not found. Application: HXC, Message Name: HXC_CUI_ERROR. Tokens: CUI_ERROR_CODE = LOV_NULL_COMPONENT_ALIAS;

 

Any tips or doc that may help me?
