Personalized Opportunity view not working

We duplicated the view "My Open Opportunities (Owner)" and personalized it to add some additional criteria.  We saved this as our default search on the opportunities page.  Now when I navigate to the Sales dashboard and request the "My Open Opportunities (Owner) New", I am given all open opportunities for all the sales team below me. I should be able to view only my own open opportunities. The current setup makes it difficult for me to maintain quickly my own open opportunities.  Why does the personalized view show me all opportunities when it should only show me my ones that I am the owner of like the seeded view  "My Open Opportunities (Owner)"?
