When Backordering Lines is there any way to keep Inventory Reservations ?

When we need to back order lines for a specific delivery by default the inventory reservations that exist always goes away or are deleted it.

Does anybody know of a way that you could keep those inventory reservations?    Specifically we want to keep ones that were done prior to the pick release but being able to keep any of them would be helpful.     This use to be a feature way back in  11.0.3  but I know the entire OM flow has changed entirely.   I assume the reason they go away has something to do with the fact they when they are pick release they go from an inventory reservation to a pick reservation.
