search by account's modified date

I am going to find some account records by a period of modified date using web service search spec argument, but it seems OD is not able to return search result. The search spec stirng is like below 

[ModifiedDate]>='29/09/2011 00:00:00' AND [ModifiedDate]<'29/09/2011 23:59:59'

Is there any idea about this kind of searching?
