Adding additonal segment to exisiting Asset Category Flexfield structure

Our company needs to go from a two segment flexfield definition to a three segment definition for the Asset Category field.  Standard Oracle documentation indicated that this requires a re-implementation.

I this the case ? Has anyone change this for their env before ?

For our scenario we will continue to have the two segments for the same purpose Major and Minor category. We just need to add a third segment to define the product.

Please advise.
