Audit files cleanup under 11.2.0.2

Hi,

we have 11,2.0.2 database and have noticed that tons of .aud files gets created under ADUMP directory under ORACLE_BASE

What is the best way to address files under this directory under 11.2.0.2? Should we have a scheduler job to clean files from here on regular basis? What is the purpose / use of these files? can we clean these up on daily basis?
