Question on AR Periods (11.5.10.2)

During month-end close our AR department forgot to close the SEP-11 and open the OCT-11 period.  They did not realize that this had occurred until mid-day today (Mon, 10/3).  Now, when they attempt to close SEP-11, they receive a message stating that the period cannot be closed due to unposted transactions.  Is the solution to just run the GL Transfer Program for September and clear any unposted transactions that may exist?  Then close SEP-11.  Thank you.
