Gauge Dial Thickness & Dial Value Markers

When a gauge is created, I have the option of setting the dial line thickness (the arching color band) width.  I also have the option of displaying actual values, percentage values, or no values in the gauge.  If I set the dial line thickness width to something small (e.g. value of 10 or less), the actual or percentage values displayed overlap the gauge dial line.  This makes it difficult to read the values.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how to "move" the values inside the gauge so they don't overlap with the gauge dial line?  I don't need a
