Update AR Receivbales Transactions/Invoices by Standard API/Interface

Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to add notes or update certain special instructions on a AR transaction programatically.

We looked on metalink and in reference manuals, but there seems to be no
API to update notes on a AR transaction.

Is there a standard API/Interface to update existing AR Transactions ?
