Adding an Activity record error

When I am inserting an Activity Record, I get the following error:

 

Required field is missing in instance of Integration Component 'Activity' with the user key '':   '<field>Activity~Display</field>' is a required field.  Please enter a value for the field.

(SBL-DAT-00498)(SBL-EAI-04389)

 

Unfortunately there is no Display field in the wsdl.  I have tried the web 2.0 and 1.0 with and without compatibility mode on and it made no difference.
