Report with Column Selectors displaying differnt no of records with different combination of Column

in CRM On Demand - Reports and Dashboards (MOSC) Question
Hi There,

There is a report in Advanced Custom Object area which has three column selectors from Opportunity. Report is pulling data from following objects.

Opportunity
Custom Object 3
Account/Partner

Three currecny fields which are pulled from CO3 are being summed up at the end after rows (using Pivot table layout).

Issue is when a particular combination is selected in the column selector lets say Sales Stage, Country, Segment, the Total of currency fields is different from when some other combinaion is selected say for example Branch, Country, New/Renewl. Why there is a difference between the total or the no of records when user changes the Column combination even when all column combination fields belong to opportunity?
