shortest time to upgrade database from 10gr2 to 11gr2

Hi All,

We want to upgrade our database from 10gr2 to 11gr2, including production. Some databases are almost 1TB, we want to get shortest downtime to do the upgrade.

Now:

OS: Solaris 5.10 /Sun i386,

database: 10.2.0.4

Target:

OS: Linux/HP

Database: 11.2.0.2 

  

I know export/import will be a way to do that, but it will take a long time. Can I configure dataguard between these 2 environment before I do the upgrade? if I can do this way, it will just take one hour to cut over.

if it is not, do I have any other way to get the shortest downtime
