Recover disk from Tape backup

on a T5440 servers, the two boot disks (Disk0 & disk 1) are faulty and need to be replaced.  I ordered the new hard disks and would like to recover system from a tape backup.Do I need to re-install solaris on the new hard disk and them restore the system from tape or can I boot from the dvd and recover data from the tape.
Need your help on the steps and commands to use.
