What is used to increment the Asset Number when it is automatically assigned?

In 11.5.10 the asset number was incrementing by 1 now in the r12.1.3 release it is incrementing by 1000.   Is this a FF or a db Sequence that is being used..

(as you might guess, I'm just a db developer who knows a little about A/R, A/P, INV, and G/L)
