Request for suggestions in migrating from Oracle 8.0.6 to 10g/11g

Hello,

I am using Oracle 8.0.6 on windows. Planning to go for 10.2.0.4 or higher. I guess the best way for my requirement is Export/Import.

I am planning to do the following steps:

1) Cold Backup of Database

2) Start server in restricted mode and take full export

3) Install Oracle Software (10g/11g) on new server and make same database structure as in production database.

4) Import the .dmp file

5) Gather Statistics, recompile all objects and check if everything is ok.

Please suggest if i am missing any steps and also suggest tips and tricks to speedup this process.

And regarding license, if i purchase Oracle Standard License for 10g, can i use the same license for 11g or do i need to buy license for 11g seperately?

Howdy, Stranger!
