11g Desktop Installation quirks
I'm installing 11g 11.2.0 Windows 7/64 (but the 32bit server) and ran into some quirks:
The installation stops at the check of reqequisites, saying my path was too long (2344 rather than 1023 bytes). Is 1023 really a system limit? How came that so many installations didn't care about that limit?
Anyway I'm currently trying to shrink down the PATH but while doing this, the installer doesn't take a note of this.
It still says my PATH were 2344 bytes long when I choose to recheck it.
But thinking about it, how can the process get information about the newly changed PATH at all? Anyway, if there were a clever way to check the PATH changem the Oracle installer doesn't use a clever method to keep up with the changed PATH.
