Installing Multiple Versions Of Oracle
My current environment involves running Oracle 10 under Windows 2000. As
I was not involved in the initial setup of this server, I now find
myself in a situation where I can start again and organise things a bit
better as the current server is in a bit of a mess. I currently have a
Sun T2000 server and an Sun ST2540 external RAID cabinet (12 disks fully
populated) available for use.
So first up, I want to change the platform we are running Oracle under to Solaris 10 SPARC (8/07) thus moving away from the Windows environment. The T2000 has 4 internal drives. The first 2 are configured as RAID-1 and have the Solaris 10 O/S installed on them. The 2nd pair of disks (again RAID-1) have 2 user partitions (/u1 and /u2) in use. My plan would be to install the various Oracle versions under /u2/Oracle with a subdirectory for each version below this (eg. /u2/Oracle/10.2.0.1 etc) The ST2540 as mentioned is fully populated with 12 x 300Gb drives.
