assigning line type after configuration

Hi,
We have a requirement to assign line type in quote after the configuration of order is complete and we are not using the CX for it. If I try by doing it through Defaulting rules then my workflow is launched for incorrect line type (previous one which is default.)

Please suggest some other way of changing the line type dynamically before launching the workflow.
