Change work order asset number after save

Is there any way through personalization, etc that will allow an asset number on a work order to be changed after it has been saved?  Currently if the wrong asset number is saved on a work order the work order has to be cancelled and a new one created.  It would be preferable if you could correct the work order number directly on the work order.  Version 11.5.10
