Data Pump Export vs Traditional Export Import

I have oracle version 11.2.0.2 sit on solaris 10. Is the traditional export import still work under the 11g version? If not, where can I find the step by step guide on how to approach and use data pump export? What are the benefits for data pump export vs traditional export import? Thanks.
