ZFS, /dev and /devices - Where to find an overview or concepts?

Hello,
Please, where can I find an overview of /dev and /devices in relation to ZFS?

For example, a brief description of ZFS initialization process when the system boots and "pass" device (I mean disks and/or LUNs) info to ZFS and/or the kernel.
Also, how /dev and /devices are setup "before" ZFS and when the info is "handed to" ZFS (or not).
All the filesystems we see are under strict control of ZFS? Or there are ("dynamic" = very hardware related an built on boot or attach) portions that are not?
What are, a little more precisely, the boundaries between physical and logical and ZFS /dev and /devices?
