POBG, -FG, -FV, etc.

I've worked as an Oracle developer for a while and I've yet to find anything that explains the meanings of the prefixes associated with views.
For instance, in PO there is POBG_PURCHASE_ORDERS, POFG_PURCHASE_ORDERS, and POFV_PURCHASE_ORDERS.  I've seen those conventions used with views in a number of different schemas.

Anyone know what they mean, or of a document that explains them?
