Add plan element to Expression detail

Hi
I am trying to add a plan element to an expression detail.
I can select it from the LOV but when I click on update, the status changes to valid but the plan element and metric disappears.
Is there something I am missing?

Could this also be the reason that my worksheets come out with zero values after calculation? I am using the customised plan element functionality and set the rates at resource level.

Any ideas?
