MRP for Phantom Items based on forecast

In our business we have phantom items which have BOMs. These phantom items get created in the manufacturing process. The business requirement is to create a forecast for a phantom item and based on this forecast run the MRP and explode this demand to lower level procured components. But I am unable to achieve this. Any suggestions on this please? Is this possible at all?
