Question on RMAN hot backups

Can anyone help with this problem?

I am concerned that an RMAN hot backup will not be recoverable unless you do an explicit log switch at the end of the backup and then backup the archive logs. Someone told me that RMAN does a log switch during the backup but I have not seen this documented. I am a little concerned that without the explicit log switch and additional archive log backup that in a disaster, I won’t have a recoverable backup. I did a test on my backups to verify this and they actually worked but the database I did the test on is not
