Disable PO Hierarchy

 Hi all,
        I have a problem about position hierarchy.Once I set up position hierarchy but I set it wrong and I need to delete it. When I delete it , the system inform me that  "You cannot delete hierarchy while version still exists". What can I do , please advise.
