automated cash application- desirable?

We use 3rd party to do cash application in JDE 8.0.  Considering upgrade to 9.0 in next year and 1/2.  

Is anyone successfully using jde 9.0 automated cash application with high percentage hit rate?   Any comments?  Is it real time or nightly batch process?
