Data loss from Outline Updates

We have a reporting cube that has been running into trouble lately.  Every quarter we update the outline for changes in our organization.  This quarter, we have lost data every time we have run the update.  We use ODI to load meta data and FDM to load data.  After updating the outline, data is lost and we cannot restore from our pre-update backup.  We must reload all data.  Has anybody experienced this?  Is there a fix for it?
