Concerned about sending same email to people multiple times.

1.It is possible to have two leads for the same person/email address.  Does ODM have any mechanism to avoid them getting two email?

2. If a contact and a lead are the same person, how to avoid 2 emails to that person?  It is quite possible that the lead may not be converted, but the relationship exists.  I state that so the suggestion of exluding converted leads is not made.
