In Release 12 the receipt amount cannot be changed

In R11i when a receipt is entered you can change the amount/value of the receipt until you save the receipt.
In R12 if you go into other forms (e.g, through 'Search and Apply' and then cancel) and return back the receipt amount cannot be changed.
