Job Step Progression and Pay Grade Step Table

Hi,

How are you doing!!! Could someone help in Job step progression and pay grade step table.

1. Is there any link between Job step progression and pay grade step table.

2.When is the Job step progression and when is pay grade step table used.

3.What is paygrade by class and what salary does system pick(minimum salary,midpoint,maximum salary).

I have gone through the eguides but was not very clear. If you could explain in detail and with a example it would be great in setting up.
