Increasing PROCESSES to 3000

Hi guys.

.

We may need to increase PROCESSES to 3000 (from 1000) on a 10g build on a 12 G RAM Dell R710 with RedHat 4.8

.

SGA is 2.2 G

.

We don't know what the upper limit for the O/S is and we're wondering what the impact of 300 users with ten application screens / pop-ups etc apiece open might be on PGA etc.

.

Any ideas, advice, links would be greatly appreciated.
