Control Accounts - can they be used for P&L accounts

Hi all,

current client has issue where manual journals are consistently by accident being posted to depreciation expense accounts - does oracle Control Account functionality in R12 only cover balance sheet accounts i.e. ca it be used for P&L accounts?
