Category Flexfield

Hi

I am currently looking at Item Categories flexfield structure in our copy of R12 Vision database. The PO Item Category structure is currently set up with two segments. I would like to set up a structure with 3 segments. I see posts on this community relating to this subject, some saying it is possible others saying should not attempt it as will cause problems.

The question I have is when the Item Categories flexfield structure is defined is this then set for the entire system (all operating units) or is it possible to have different structures in different operating units? i.e. Could I define a new operating unit and create a 3 segment structure for it?
