Getting ORA-27070 during RMAN backup

Hello everyone

On our 10.2.0.4 database on Windows, we are getting the following error during RMAN backup

ORA-19502: write error on file "C:\ORADB_BACKUP\PACERPRD\IHMSB1GK_7_1", blockno 57217 (blocksize=8192)
ORA-27070: async read/write failed

we have checked and the drive has free space in it so that is definitely not an issue. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
