creating contacts as well as leads from MOD into CRMOD

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible for MOD to create a contacts and a lead in to CRMOD using funneling and queue assignment ?

we have been told MOD can only create leads in CRMOD and want to find out if this is true, we can change our business process and get sales to convert a lead to a contact but this is not ideal for us.
