What is the concept and advantage of having SIM Managed Stores ???

Hi
The user guide  gives the definition of SIM Managed stores as "To set up  those stores that use SIM application".Its not clear,unable to get the concept behind it

Can anyone kindly explain the concept of SIM managed stores.
