Status attributes in template - Item Master

Hello

This is an item master question with item templates. If I have status attributes with status setting "Default Value or Sets Value" and have a template with one of those attributes set and item status code with status attributes ...what would be the precedence for applying the value?

Ex: Build in WIP is set "Default Value":

Build in WIP = Yes in Item Status Code and this status code is used in template.

Buld in WIP = No in the same template above..

Does the value for status code in the template get applied? Or the standalone value defined in the template?
