We have a three-node 11.2.0.3 RAC Cluster on RHEL 5.6 x86-64.  During the installation, OUI displays a warning message:  'WARNING:  PRVF:5640: Both search and domain entries are present in file "/etc/resolv.conf"'.  The domain entry in /etc/resolv.conf is identical on all three nodes, and the search entry is identical on all three nodes.  OUI does determine this and give the message 'File "/etc/resolv.conf" is consistent across nodes".  I am able to check "Ignore All" during the install, and the install completes successfully.

The /etc/resolv.conf used is our standard across our linux servers.  We would like to continue using the standard file on our database servers unless there is an issue with it.  Our linux admin expressed that they cannot see how having both domain and search entries in /etc/resolv.conf could be an issue for Oracle RAC and have asked if I could find an explanation.

Howdy, Stranger!
